Progress to Date:
2010 The heritage architects Salmon-Reed of Auckland prepare a condition assessment book for All Saints Church.
2015 The church bell is renovated and restored for use.
2016 A detailed contract document is circulated to local contractors.
2017 February. An application is prepared and sent to Lotteries Heritage for stage one funding.
June. Our grant is forthcoming and the chosen contractor is contacted.
July 11th. Teleconference call with contractors, Mark and Tracey confirms stage one work and Tracey will prepare a contract to start the work.
October 2017. The contract for work prepared by Salmon Reed Architects has been signed by the contractors (Wilkins Greymouth) and the Church Property Trustees.
November 2017. Work commences with a security fence. Scaffolding is erected and the flat roof above the vestry and at the top of the tower stripped down to the concrete.
December. Bell lowered to the floor below for installation there. Spalling repairs done and external walls cleaned.
January 2018. Plasterers arrive from Auckland and commence external plastering.
March 2018. The main contractors have left the site and removed the security fence and office. An extra job was the installation of 'lexon' armored perspex over the stained glass windows on the East wall. A Lion Foundation grant of $6600 funded this work which was done by Otago Stained Glass.
July 2018. Fund raising for stage two has begun. Mark Falloon has launched a 'Buy a Roof Tile' @ $12 each. A section of the roof has been drawn and numbered. People are invited to buy tiles and their names are recorded against the number.
August. Many thanks to Rex and Anthea Keenan who have helped with Foodie nights, raffle prizes and delivering firewood.
September 2018. We welcome the skills, energy and experience of Dr Anna Dyzel and Nigel Ogilvie who are active Lions members. Their fundraising initiatives such as the Calcutta Horse Race held in St Mary's hall raised about $9000.
2019. A group of blokes have been splitting firewood for sale. Sold by the truck load this has raised $1500+ and continues. An application to the West Coast Community Trust was successful with $11000 raised. We are grateful for the donations from some churches in the North Island. The Great Barrier Island Community Church and St Saviours Anglican church in Kaitaia.

Some drawings of interest.
Before and after. January 2018
All Saints Church looking 100% better in June 2018. The Charleston sand (near Westport) produces a fine white render which is maintenance free. The church is now dry inside except for a few drips which indicate broken roof tiles. We are fund raising now for stage two which will replace and strengthen the roof.
Note the cavity walls. A recent innovation in 1936.
